Back in the Saddle again…

January 1st, 2010

First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I/We welcome the turn of the decade and with a new year comes New opportunities. My goals for the new year are:

Business:
1. Publish 12 new titles (mine or that of others) this year. Approx. one per month.
2. Continue to develop new materials and subjects for the live training series.
3. Make our sales this year the BEST that they have ever been (beat our all-time high). Best year ever 2007…

Personal:
1. Spend more time with my boys having fun.
2. Fly at least 125 hours this year to build time.
3. Earn several ratings, those include, tail-wheel, and glider, and be fully prepared to complete my commercial rating in January 2011.
4. Work on getting my oldest son a vehicle for his 16th birthday in 2011.

Sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind, and just go for it!

Over the last 2 months, I have been working on getting my airplane back in the air, annual inspection, bi-annual flight review for my pilot’s license, and finding a reason to actually fly.

I have gotten involved with a group that flys rescue dogs from kill shelters to rescue groups. This will give me a reason to get in the plane and actually fly somewhere for a reason other than a meal (which at this point, I really do not need) and to just burn up fuel for the time sake.

I have an extensive trip planned for 1/2/10 that will take me from my home airport, KXFL to Quincy, FL to pick up, then down to Vero Beach, FL to drop off 2 dogs. I am excited and ready to make the 5 or 6 hour trip. The family is out of town to see the in-laws so it is just me and my trusty N-8852G. With a fresh annual and full tanks, she is ready to go. Hopefully the weather will hold and other than it being cold, weather should be clear and unlimited visibility!

One thing that I can recommend is to take a day and just go out and do something good for a total stranger. It will make you feel good, and some people can just use a helping hand.

5 creative ways to burn calories…

July 30th, 2009

I was just poking around waiting for some files to upload, I came across this neat article, 5 creative ways to burn calories.

You probably already know that in order to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. This article will take a closer look at some easy ways to burn calories that you can incorporate into your daily life.

Fidget. Studies show that lean people fidget for about 150 minutes a day more than obese people do. That kind of low-grade activity (tapping feet and fingers, twirling hair, gesturing while speaking, etc.) can burn 350 calories a day, which translates into 10-30 pounds a year![1] It’s called Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT), which is basically any movement that isn’t intended as exercise. You can burn an extra 100-150 calories an hour by increasing NEAT. To see the rest: go to how to burn calories on wikihow…

Second in the “interview with the authors” series, WOW!

July 29th, 2009

The second “installment” of my interview with the authors series of podcasts, was with Paul Hutchins. He was an interesting character that drew me in and REALLY made me think about some of the “goings on” in the world. His interview was DEEP! From flying bullets to the meaning of space and beyond, this podcast is one that you should not miss. I will also be broadcasting this intervew on on of our radio station channels. Take a little while and check him out!

I am going to order his book myself, if nothing else, than for the pictures of space taken by the HUBBLE telescope.

Posted interview with the “Queen of Trivia”…

July 28th, 2009

Today, I had an interview with Jane Flinn, the Queen of Trivia… She was interesting, and some of the facts that she has will make you certainly scratch your head and wonder if what she is telling you is really the truth. Check out the interview podcast below.

Have several “interesting” interviews today…

July 28th, 2009

I am doing several interviews today of authors and others for a series of “blogcasts” (podcasts posted on my blog). I wanted to “jazz up” the place a little so I am adding some podcasts that I have been doing.

Interviewed a lady today who is the “Queen of Trivia”, and another gentleman who sees life beyond the stars. He has some really cool pictures from the hubble telescope. Unlike anything I have ever seen before.

In any event, I will post the podcasts once I am done with them. Should be later today.

Have a great day “peeps”!

New “internet Radio” broadcasting oldies & educational training…

July 16th, 2009

Today, on the date of my wife’s 44th birthday, I launched a “new” radio station online.

I have figured out how to listen to the broadcast in several different ways:

Option #1, click on the logo below: radioman

option #2: Listen to the broadcast via your browser This is the EASIEST way to listen.

option #3: Download the player A little more complicated and technical. If you are comfortable with performing downloads, then this option could be one for you.

Listen to the current broadcast. We will have different items on 24/7 and I will add to the programming with specials as the content is created. I have and will attempt to create a channel that will be both educational, informative, and educational that will stimulate and inform. We also have the ability to broadcast “live” programs which we will do from time to time.

Enjoy!

Steve

The brain is working overtime the past 2 days!!!!

July 10th, 2009

Ever been on a long, LONG trip by yourself, and had the opportunity to think, brainstorm, plan, and relax?

I just got back from a business trip in Pensacola. From Daytona/Flagler Beach, it is about 900 miles round trip. I left Wed. night after Toastmasters and drove to Tallahassee. Stayed overnight, drove to meet with a client in Pensacola, FL. Hit a Toastmasters meeting in Pensacola this morning at 6:45am then back to Tallahassee for a meeting with a state agency.

My point is that while driving 14 hours total, I had the opportunity to listen to several audio books, LOTS of satellite radio (god bless them) and put lots of thought into several projects that are both going/ongoing and planned along with the logistics of getting those projects done in a timely, cost effective manner.

I ended up with 2 legal sized pages of notes with ideas, and a pretty well mapped out plan of how I was going to get things done. I-10 is a LONG road with nothing between Jacksonville and Pensacola (except an exit or two for Tallahassee). I have been all over this state in the 40 years that I have been alive and the pan handle is one dull drive!

I have a “FIRE UP your training program” class in the morning so I am going to “hit the hay” as it were. Want to join the class? Use the link below. Until later…

The “New” www.ShavedLizard.com!!

July 9th, 2009

OK, from the name, you may be expecting that the site be used as a “porn” site. Believe me, if I was not the “short/stocky” build, I would have gone in that direction. HOWEVER, since I was not blessed with looks, but with ideas the new shavedlizard.com site will be something both amazing and unexpected.

Stay tuned, COMING SOON, the “new” www.ShavedLizard.com!

Never bite the hand that feeds you, unless that hand fails to bring you food!–Thomas Szasz

July 9th, 2009

I was at a toastmasters meeting this evening, and one of the members and I were making small talk. I made a comment about me not biting him unless he bit me first. (we were sitting together at a cramped table) and he gave me the headline quote.

I am a fan of cool quotes that make you think. This one was funny, and it makes you think, with a little bit of truth.

If all else fails, bite the hand, it is MEAT!
